My Twitter Username and my new venture!

First off I want to say THANK YOU!!!! to everyone who has entered my giveaway and joined my blog! I just wanted to clear up a question that I have had from a few people--

My twitter user name is Jar_O_Buttons. I was unable to put Buttons in the Attic in the username and BITA was already taken. Sorry for the confusion!! Hope everyone is having a GREAT day! I am furiously working on goodies for my new selling adventure! I am the newest crafter to join Olde Primitive Peddler http://oldeprimitivepeddlerartisans.blogspot.com/   and I am totally THRILLED!!! The items I will be showcasing there are one ofs that will only be for sale there this year. My store opens there on December 1st and I am so excited! I have a primitive black Saint Nick, an primitive angel made from a nearly vintage pattern (mid 90's--can't believe that seems so long ago!), an extreme prim angel of my own design and a set of stars that are similar to the ones in my giveaway, but not quite! There are 3 made with green ticking, with primitive black stitching, vintage buttons and rusty bits, as well as 2 mustard painted, sanded, stained and cinnamon-ed--is that even a word?? smaller stars. I think they would be wonderful as tucks or as ornies or even tucked into the branches of your tree.

Well, I can hear the sewing machine call my name, so back at it! I will be back very soon!!

Be safe and Happy Crafting!!!

A New Giveaway at.... Buttons in the Attic!

Hello!! I have been reading about giveaways and posting about giveaways, and I guess the time has come to HOST one of my very own! I have decided to giveaway the stars that I was working on earlier and had an impromptu tutorial on--if you missed Galaxy of Stars follow this link to read that particular post. Anywhoo, these holiday stars are made from ticking, both red and green, with stars made from cutter quilts that I made. The stars were heavily tea dyed as were the quilt stars. They were stitched on with perle cotton with primitive stitching and then topped off with vintage buttons. Darling! if I may say so myself! I am really very pleased with how the stars turned out and so I thought I would give you the opportunity to win that pair!

And here they are!

Now how do you enter the giveaway for these stars you may be asking yourself? Well, here is the 411 as my daughter is wont to say! This giveaway is open to those followers in the US and Canada.

First--you must follow my blog! Pretty simple! If you are already a follower, just mention that in your comment and  please everyone, share something that says Christmas to you! Is it the smell of turkey baking in the oven? The music of the season? Is it decorating the tree? What is the special holiday moment that means so much to you?

Two--Please post about the giveaway on your blog and post a link back here! You can earn an extra entry by posting about my giveaway on your sidebar. If you do not have a blog, please leave me your email address so I can get in touch with you!

Four--For extra entries, join my Facebook page, or follow me on Twitter. If you follow me on Twitter, please tweet about my giveaway--if you join my Facebook page, please post there that you have entered my giveaway.

Please put all of these into one post--one, two or three if you please! Thank you!

The giveaway runs through December 9th. I will be picking the winner over the weekend and notifying them. The winner has 48 hours in which to respond and as soon as the winner has responded, the package will be out in the mail the next business day! Good luck!!

Christmas is in the air....

Well, it sure feels like it anyway! Had a sprinkling of snow over night and now I have a pot of stew on the stove bubbling away for dinner tonight with biscuits. YUM! I love this time of year for the soups and stews that make you feel all warm inside--

Been sewing up a storm this week and taking advantage of the sales at the fabric stores in town! Santa ornies, Whoo-ete ornies, Christmas Owls and snowmen galore! I really like how everything is turning out! The Christmas Owl is a variation on Whootie Who, who basically told me that he wants to help celebrate Christmas, so he is now sporting a primly stitched Santie hat with a rusty bell at the end! Just perfect to help celebrate the Holidays with you! I think he would be perfect tucked into a cabinet or displayed with your decorations or even on the tree! The Whoot-etes are inspired by Who's Who (he is a creation of Deb's at Paxton Valley Folk Art), and they are a bit pale at the moment! LOL but they will be soon painted and tea dyed and ready to hang on your tree! Now the Santa ornies--they will be a set of 3 with different colored hats--red, green and blue--with real wool beards, needlefelted on. The wool I am using is from Celeste Flanagan from Old Rustic Prims--and I love the fact that she tells you the breed and often the name of the ewe it came from! I think that adds such a neat touch to the wools as I use them! I have 2 Santas with their beards, and they are just waiting for their hats. I actually have two different styles in the works, as well as a Tomte version, and he will have a button tree! I have a slew of vintage buttons to use on his trees and I am itching to get started!

By the way--if you want to see a darling Elf Owl, head over to Paxton Valley Folk Art to check out Elwin! He is soo cute!

Well--on to the pictures!!

Here is Santa Whoot in his planning stages--figuring out his hat and size of the brim.  And here he is all finished up! I am really pleased with how he came out! He has one rusty bell eye and a rusty bell on the point of his hat. His hat is stitched in place so it stays nice and neat.

And here are the one set of Santa ornies--- Without his beard and then with 2 of the 3 different types of wool that I am using for the beards.....

Next time you see Santa, he will be sporting his hats! Well, time to get back to the sewing and finishing! I will  have more pictures to share soon! Take care my friends and talk to you soon!

Be safe and happy crafting!!
